There are parts of it that could be true but if you see the PC World article "subscription based" is enough of a stretch to be an outright lie and the modular stuff sounds cool. AI less so but I'm hoping that's being misreported or sufficient backlash will turn some of that around. See what happens.

Yeah, apology means in this case "you were hurt because of something I did and I recognise that, even though it wasn't my fault, and I'm centering your feelings rather than mine." I don't think that admits racism, but not doing that looks possibly insensitive. Possibly. We're all making assumptions.

Yeah, I think that would be nice. The lack of an apology to viewers in this interview seems deliberate, like he feels he shouldn't have to apologise for who he is. Which he shouldn't. And nobody is asking him to. I don't know why he doesn't just apologise for the hurt caused and we all just move on.

99% of the time Startpage gets me what I need. I specifically wanted something European. I tried GOOD and Ecosia too but found them a bit half-baked.
I know Startpage uses Google as one of its sources but it's private and anonymised and they're not getting my ad revenue so I'm fine with it.
I've been doing the same and it's surprising how easy it is to stop using GMail and Search. The rest are tricky but even if you never manage to completely de-Google yourself it's definitely worth doing what you can.
