Fucking hell. A synagogue conducting active shooter training isn’t proof that an attack on the synagogue was a false flag any more than a school conducting active shooter training is proof that school shootings are false flags. Synagogues are community hubs and receive threats *constantly*.

Right. 3000 words into my lit review now, which is probably just under halfway? Feel like I've still got a lot to get in.

The opposite of what we have at the moment! I have a mild theory about the "wrong" people ending up in DEI roles because people w/ lived experience are so much more likely to burnout due to coming up against endless "no"s to their own inclusion. But I am absolutely SURE someone has written on that.

I can find a fair bit about how teachers, social workers and nurses experience this in advocating for others, but not much in the sense of it being yourself and others like you that you have to fight for.

Has anybody got a good academic reading on the concept of "self-advocacy fatigue/burnout"? As in, when having to be an advocate and role model for your own identity/rights becomes exhausting? #AutRes #AskingAutistics #Neurodiversity

Finally got round to rebooking an appointment with university disability services today. Last time I tried they cancelled it and I did the obvious adhd thing of never remembering to rebook.

Please do not read this if it might be triggering, but this is a really excellent bit of journalism and a story which needs to be shared.

Amazing how much more ready you feel for life after a good night’s sleep. Yesterday everything felt fully unmanageable.

What they say is "Everyone wants to be Autistic"

They mean "Everyone wants compassion and accommodation for their sensory sensitivities and social tolerances"

& like - fuck yeah we do!

But they also are implying they will NOT recognize our needs and WON'T support them, so that's not a safe person

On Uta Frith, its worth noting she's been doing this kind of thing for decades. In her 2008 book "Autism: A Very Short Introduction" she wrote that attempt to shift from a deficit to difference perspective is "peverse" and said that if you hold that perspective then the book is "not for you".

When my three year old son is sat on the loo doing a poo, he pulls a face that looks just like Michael Gove and it haunts me.

I've realised that I have a lot of anxiety about being tired/burned out, and sometimes that makes things worse, because the mere thought of doing something I am really capable of doing will make me anxious. And being anxious makes me tired.
