Politics and law are extremely messy, especially when bad faith actors get involved (ie: always), so it's important that this is coupled with protections on artistic expression elsewhere. Main takeaway is anybody who cares enough to comment on or spread this should stay involved beyond it as well.

It's still a totally valid thing to comment on and spread, it's just got some "gotchas" attached like anything else in politics. We should always be mindful of how a seemingly good thing can still leave a door open to something worse. That's a large part of how we've backslid so much in recent years

tl;dr once you remember this is all about one guy and cartoon ponies it just becomes hilarious. And I say that as someone whose current career is 90% cartoon ponies atm

But it was just describing stuff you would do anyway without ai... and the process is kind of part of the whole healing process. Hijacking actual therapy basically.

I'd call it ragebait but honestly it's so pathetic it looped back around into being hilarious. I'm not going to link it cause it doesn't deserve the traffic, but man was it a ride to read. And yes, it does suggest that being against AI art can make the trauma of parents who lost their child worse.

Today I found out about a brand new ponycon that made the promo art for the con by using AI, and when everyone clowned on it released an ai-gen "article" explaining why AI art hate is "gatekeeping" and cruel to people with trauma.

So anyway then I stole @beardiearts.bsky.social 's ocs and did this

I don't actually understand how social media like bluesky works so I'm cross-posting this reply to my profile page just to make sure people get eyes on it.

tl;dr there's a thing going around re: nsfw art bans; it's good to check it out but it's not quite a silver bullet. Read thread for more info.

If nothing else it's a good reminder that just one action, or one comment on one proposal is never enough, we need to keep pressing what we care about from every angle we can find and can't be content until our rights as artists (even kinky ones) are properly protected.
