The Switch 2 Joy-Cons have a new mouse mode.
Instead we have display servers that aren't usable for daily activities because one is a geriatric mess and one can't even position windows properly or have a functioning clipboard when using a virtual machine, because it doesn't want to be the old one.
It really should not be. Linux is great for servers, the desktop has potential but it gets squandered so hard by ideology. A lot of issues prevalent with it would be solved if users/devs actually listened and empathised with those who are struggling to adapt.
If the thing you need help on is simple enough, the slot machine will probably be correct anyways.
Recalled when some people on the Linux subreddits - particularly newbies - admitted to using ChatGPT for getting help with Linux desktop things.
I can only see that as the logical reaction to how unhelpful, opinionated, ideological and snide certain people in the Linux desktop commun[...]
I do have something to say about Linux being unconditionally free and having to deal with some suckage (as DankPods said) - I think the one thing that made me go back to Windows was having to deal with Wayland's problems (specifically its obsession with security breaking clipboard and[...]
you choose Rust for its memory safety and performance
I choose Rust because its mascot is cute

"but the code may be dangerous even though it's corr--" we're talking about GOG here, not some guy vibe coding an app he wants to make in his room. i'll eat my hat if there is a cockup on GOG's part that was directly caused by AI assisted code, but IMO it's safe to assume they know wh[...]
GOG's job listing for the Linux GOG Galaxy dev is also looking for someone with experience in AI assisted coding lol
though honestly? I'd rather GOG be on Linux with AI assisted coding, than it not be on Linux at all. Linux desktop needs any and all the help it can get at this rate, [...]
I now have a post I can point to when someone tries to respond to me lamenting about the fact MusicBee isn't on Linux:

Also also, I can promise you this as well, Linux is not the saving grace for VR like many people think it is, many things still do not work correctly in VR on Linux, and in general, if you are not willing to put up with insane amounts of issues, please just continue using Windows. There is some other issues that will affect the PSVR2, such as being unable to readjust the PSVR2 Sense controller rate (seemingly due to a Linux BT stack bug?), meaning BT adapters will actually be bogged down more on Linux, which will require using our custom experimental IR LED sync.
The people working on the WINE bridge (which'll get PSVR2 working via the Windows SteamVR drivers) had to come out and tell people that VR on Linux is still janky lol.
Hopefully Valve (or any of their subcontractors) sends a patch out fixing this since it'd probably m... see complete post
Frankly, the UK has lost their trust after everything they've done the past month so I can't really care about this anymore, even if I should.
there is a bug in the linux kernel's bluetooth stack meaning that bluetooth adapters get hammered when PSVR2 controllers are being used so that's great. ๐ #Linux #LinuxGaming #LinuxVR #PSVR2
If any of you outside the United Kingdom want to know how bad it's getting, Ofcom wants YouTube to force government propaganda onto the YouTube algorithm under the guise of "supporting public service broadcasters".
linux phones? you mean android, right? :D
I've used Win, Linux, Mac ones and honestly, I'd go Mac if I could even now. Used to do Hackintosh as well so I know my way round and I'm getting my parents on board with it (yes, tried Linux, had audio issues so I had to throw Windows on it)
Depends on who you ask, but from what I know, Mac is quite similar to Linux for coding IIRC since they're both similar to Unix.
I'd say both are better than Windows tho, especially if you're using the terminal.
I mainly code and listen to music and oddly enough, Windows is better than both of them on that front for me (MusicBee my beloved.)
Mac edges slightly by having official Apple Music support. Tried plenty of music players on Linux and I couldn't even settle on them.
It's funny seeing Mac users particularly saying they want to run Linux since as someone who tried it for years and has over a decade of experience with it, I would rather buy a Mac. #Mac #Linux
Looking for a way to mirror my GitHub repos to Codeberg, immediate first result on DDG is a lot of political noise. I don't care about GitHub being spyware because you hate Microsoft, I just want to mirror my repos lol.
I'm not currently in the market for a VPS but if I did I would be tempted to use OVH. The TOS seems to be similar to DigitalOcean where it's basically "don't do illegal shit" (my main on Bluesky is NSFW and other places like Hetzner and Netcup don't allow that) and the specs seem to b[...]
Selfhosted.social seems to think it's to do with the relay upgrade which tracks. Since Wafrn is using Blacksky for that this is still up.
I've had second thoughts about keeping this acc up but honestly, it's worth keeping for this reason alone lol. Though I'd have to wonder why I'm h[...]
Bluesky is playing up right now but the AT side of Wafrn seems to be working perfectly fine.
A lot of these decomps will eventually end up on Android. These decomps and recomps (in the case of Sonic Unleashed) allow porting to Linux - I remember seeing the SM64 port having an AUR package on Arch.
If I had a nickel for every time a fascist leader of a country spun up a Mastodon instance to promote themselves, I'd have two nickels.
Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice.

Cloudflare seems to have stopped showing the CAPTCHA on my laptop with Linux on it. Maybe they answered my prayers lol
Also passkeys in Linux are generally not in a good situation, only app I know does them well is Chromium. and now even Windows is well ahead, allowing password mana[...]
If I had to throw guesses, the mindset I'm in using Wafrn compared to the wider Fediverse is much more relaxed. Wafrn just feels like a calmer Bluesky while fedi feels like Reddit in a bad way.
Not to say it's been perfect but things have been better here.
