Protesting has been the best medicine for all the fear, anxiety, outrage, grief, and aggression I feel.
But this also helps a little.

Did you know that all Minnesotan made buffalo check contains a hidden message?
Reminder: when they say no one is above the law, they forget that the people are above the law. The law gets its authority from the people. We grant authority and we can take it back.
We mourn with power. We continue strong.
New episode!
Ryan sits down with prolific illustrator, art director, and generally awesome guy @davidhoskins.bsky.social to talk art, games, the year behind us, the year ahead us, and more.
My favorite books of fiction I read this year:
-The Neverending Story: Michael Ende
-The Old Gods Awaken: Manly Wade Wellman
-Phantastes: George MacDonald
-The King of Elflandโs Daughter: Lord Dunsany
-The Princess and the Goblin: George MacDonald
-The People that Time Forgot: Edgar Rice Burroughs
So good!
New update for my Death Cut In Stone, my brutal old west skirmish game that hacks Violence from @lukegearing.bsky.social.
Some tweaks throughout, including changes to Deployment, as well as Injuries in Melee combat.
This is probably the last update before I drop the "final" full art version.
It is so good. I had a blast each time. Looking forward to playing again and maybe trying a scenario.
Hell yeah
I am a recluse. I donโt want anyone to know what I look like. But also, I am a firm believer that if I am afraid of something, that is a good reason to do it. So I thought, well if I donโt want people to see my face, then I think I should design a shirt with my face on it.
Stoked to print these.
Hereโs my Spotify Wrapped ๐ตโจ
Movie made me cry lol. I have been wanting to check this out for a long time but waiting to stumble onto it used. Curious.
There are an infinitum of better tools and practices. Creativity research will back me up on this.
Love you. Now go be human.
PS: what I like about AI will be coming sometime.
But when we use AI, we shift our role from being in relationship with the world and translating experience into object to a new role: consumer.
So if you are using AI to help prompt your creativity, please know that you are decreasing the likelihood of having good ideas.
It can work, but
Wants to poison you. It will almost always feed you garbage unless it makes a mistake.
I would say that any good idea AI has is only good because a human has seen the cross connective value they superimpose onto an AI generated concept.
And this is actually harder to do with AI than without!!!
Go for a walk, read a book, take a bath, dance, kiss someone, or lay on a bed of nails.
Prompting AI to give you a list of ideas is like ordering a cheeseburger off the menu at McDonaldโs. Sure you can get weird with it, but you are constraining yourself to work within a system that inherently
And ideate at the same time!
Like I said, quantity of ideas is helpful, but it isnโt the core.
Having a list requires sorting and a focused cognitive load that is an added barrier to accessing the unconscious awareness of cross connections.
This is why if you need ideas, it is better to..
These ideas spark precisely because we are in the world, experiencing a diversity of experiences.
The ideaโs potency comes from our ability to draw unlikely connections across many systems.
And because we donโt have to sit and think until we receive good output, we are able to simultaneously live
Creative folks donโt have a plethora of ideas they record and then select the right one from.
Ideas spark, many of them bad, while we are doing laundry, eating a sandwich, taking a shit, and that isnโt a bug that is fixed by entering a prompt and receiving a list instead.
It is a feature.
I still hear people talking about how good AI is for prompting creativity and helping with ideation.
This comes from a highly uninformed position on the topic of creativity.
Here we go. ๐งต
Creativity isnโt about quantity of ideas. However, creative folks do tend to have more sparks of ideas. But..
#digitalinflation I like this term. If it already has meaning I think people should join me in using it to refer to the rising inverse relationship between cost and physicality rendered.
Also, I love digitally produced artwork. This is about the capitalism creating non-extant content and extracting value by selling digital vapidity to people who never asked to purchase non-things in the first place. Digital inflation is logarithmically approaching paying more to receiving nothing.
In this world that increasingly devalues physicality and craft, we are conversely motivated to produce beautiful objects.
Physicality matters. It impacts our experience. Disembodied content reinforces Cartesian duality and the hierarchy of mind over body.
Ink is good. The body and mind are one.
