I remember once I was having a really shitty day and I got a call from this old lady screeching at me about not getting promo checks for about 8 minutes. Afterwards she vaguely apologized, said her dog had recently passed away, and all I could reply with was “okay” before hanging up

Like that shit tested my sanity, my morality, and my own humanity all at once multiple times a day. The micromanaging, the way that a single detractor in stats could make or break your month, and the level of entitlement people had about money they’re borrowing was just so fucking nasty !!!!

Thinking of the various hells I had to endure working call center service for a credit card company. My job now can be a bitch, but it doesn’t compare to being verbally beat the fuck out of for 5-10 minutes straight, then having it happen all over again with a different bitch the moment they hang up
