Would a forensic geoscience consultant (me) be of interest to people do you think?

I have read both of these twice now. I like them both quite a lot (except I skip the Donner party chapter in This Way Up. I just can’t find any humor in that. Grew up knowing the story.)

Want more books like this - informative, humorous and deep enough to keep my brain engaged.

This is a good analogy. Very useful in carefully controlled settings for specific usages, but unfortunately being widely inserted into everything and used without training or PPE and poisoning a lot of things and people and we’re going to pay a tonne of money to remove it safely in the future

When someone says β€žScientists do not want you to knowβ€œ you can dismiss everything from there on. Scientists want you to know. They are desperate that you know. They can’t shut up about what they found out and want you to know.

I keep midnight buying board games to play with my daughter. They take up to much space. But I can play them with my daughter. At least I am avoiding the insanely expensive ones. And it is a nice change from stress buying too many books I guess.

I really should not have looked at Bluesky. This hasn’t helped my insomnia at all. Damn.

βš’οΈI need some volcano book recommendations for a budding geoscience undergraduate. Looking for approachable and engaging recentish stuff.

And I had forgotten how awful the ending Tattoo jokes could be. Good grief.

Agreed. I was so startled that you were watching the same show we were I had to say something.

I had not expected them to go all in on 'the Pilgrims were awful.'

OMG we are watching that right now too. We have been focused on how weird it is to see Radar without his glasses. Fantasy Island is so strange - I remember suffering through Love Boat so I could watch it though.

I am never going to get over the fact thar so many Americans died that corpses stacked up in nursing homes and hospital morgues, that refrigerator trucks had to be brought in for the overflow, and that the big takeaway from Important Pundits is there should have been *less* mitigation.

May you have happy moments of zen with your inner spring like this fuzzy guy. Happy Caturday.

You can't... repeal... a scientific finding. At that point it's just called lying about it.

Walking past a classroom and the phrase that came floating out was "My dog loves disco."

?!?!??

I am in the science and mathematics complex. And unfortunately I was in a hurry and couldn't just lurk in the hallway there to find out what was going on in there.
