I actually wanted to get that out, because Disney was really bad for quite some time now and I want to give credit where it's due.
Also spreading positivity and not jumping on hate bandwagons all the time is a good thing, right?

Zootopia 2 is better than the first one.
I have yet to see it in English. The German voices were great, though. Good casting. I especially enjoyed how they handled the goats.
The only good achievement is βthe part where he kills youβ
I finally feel seen!
my toxic trait is that I consider curly braces permanently paired so instead of just adding another closing bracket inside the get{} scope I simply have to add it outside the scope, like, morally
Because there is currently the Detective Sale coming along on Steam I wanna recommend "Little Problems" which is a Golden-Idol-like but in suuuuper wholesome and I enjoyed it a lot more than Golden Idol. It's low-key my GOTY 2025. But grab Golden Idol as well. Also Blue Prince and Obra Dinn.
One of my new year resolutions is to be more active in the game dev community. Last year was horrible for me and I lost a lot of interest in the industry itself due to near burnout and immense job pressure... I want to change that this year.
Happy new year! I know it's not necessarily the first day of the year anymore (for me it isn't), but what can I say: I didn't bother to look into social media which I consider a good thing.
Merry Christmas and long live the new tradition!
The most fantastical thing in German D&D sessions is "the trains will arrive when you need them."
I just made 5 commits in a row! I'm sooo productive on my hobby project!
One was a swap from asset to package, one was a new 3rd-party asset, one was an amend and the other one was just split because I could. Looks good on the graph, though.
When do I finally get my noodles with hamburger flavor?
This is like putting a bandaid on a gunshot wound but having been Through It and now having been a Lead, here are a few things I do to help:
- Always make sure non-standup meetings have agendas and appropriate titles. Yes, even if it's bad news - make sure that agenda involves a Plan.
no cheating, post your lock screen
I actually love the "show me the current weather as lock screen background" feature, so I started using it as soon as it became available
Stronghold Crusader Definitive Edition is pretty nice. I have to sink waaay more time into it, though. But this first hour was great.
Bonus anecdote: Because we needed some loading screen hints that you could cycle through, I added some platypus facts to the array of texts. In honor of that era, there still remains at least one platypus fact in the list of loading screen hints.
I miss working on that title...
... arrived from the studio, people were asking "what are these texts?" and I was like "I've put them there, no-one changed them". But we realized that the French had their own version of the saying, so we kept them: "Une pomme chaque matin Γ©loigne le mΓ©decin!"
... for the unit selection 3 years later, I used the descriptions from the config, thinking some designer had set useful values there. But no-one did. For the medical department I put the good 'ol "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" as placeholder description. When the French localization...
I can't answer that question, but I can tell you an anecdote about some French localization shenanigans that happened on a game I worked on: Waaaay back in 2019, I created some config for the in-game departments. And that somehow flew completely under the radar. When I created the UI...
I finally did some (very minor) work on the farm space sim again. I had some ideas I wanted to note down and also scrap the old prototype, as it was not focused enough.
Also, maybe don't submit the folders ending with "_BurstDebugInformation_DoNotShip" and "_BackUpThisFolder_ButDontShipItWithYourGame" to Steam...
I'm somewhere in the endgame of Chef Life and some of the recipes are broken. I'd love to fix them with a hack/mod, but unfortunately, Cyanide/Nacon decided to ship the game compiled as IL2CPP binaries. Sorry, but no, I ain't gonna deal with that. You order your soup cold, you get your soup cold.
Overall really worth a watch and I'm sad that I did not see it on the silver screen, but on the other hand I really wanted to hear the OV and that is hard to get with "kids movies" in Germany.
Which does not (I repeat: Not!) make her or the others bad characters. They just felt a little underdeveloped and I'd hoped the story could evolve them a little more. Also, we got a no-villain story again. The influence of the bad guys in this movie was as much as the decapod in the first movie.
My main criticism of the crew is that all three feel very stale despite having so much screen time. I would've hoped they all have more than one character trait and while I loooove me some engineer girls, her "I'm quirky, unpredictable and speak double time" personality feels bland next to Moana.
I finally came around to watch Moana 2 and it was surprisingly good, but you can totally feel the lack of Lin-Manuel Miranda in the music which I really loved in the first movie. Also, we got a villain song (I guess) which was also fine. But I never fully warmed up to the crew, as I'd hoped to.
One of my hobbies? Trying to fit free for board game rules into implementable data structures.
I just love to digitalize board games. I'm not the biggest idea-guy myself, so I really love to take ideas of other people and try to shape them into code. Also I have no people to play boardgames with...
If you want to know where our modern media pirate trope comes from, look no further than Treasure Island by R. L. Stevenson. It has it all: Singing pirate crews, buried treasures, wooden legs, talking parrots, eye-patches, morally gray opportunistic pirates, obscure treasure maps, the "black spot".
