"U.S. military investigators believe it is likely that U.S. forces were responsible for an apparent strike on an Iranian girls' school."
"The strike would rank among the worst cases of civilian casualties in decades of U.S. conflicts in the βMiddle East."
Five days later and I still have no idea why USA started a war with Iran. No clear explanation. No plan. No goals. Just plunging the region into indefinite chaos. And no oversight from any branch of our government.
I was having trouble saying the second word of the movie title βJohnny Mnemonicβ but just then the director of the movie interrupted and corrected me
The thing that has me concerned about AP selling election night returns data to prediction markets is that people are going to compare things like this to projections based on estimated remaining votes and allege fraud because the markets canβt be wrong
Yes, but also depends on what you do with it. Given streaming movies or video calls estimated to be 5x more energy than AI, Iβd rather have coding or review help than watching latest episode of Bridgeton - but that may not be typical usage either :(
Yeah, to be fair, whether browsing the internet or streaming a movie, it all has environmental harm
A DHS document obtained by 404 Media shows for the first time CBP used location data sourced from the online advertising industry to track phone locations. ICE has bought access to similar tools. @evystadium.bsky.social reports.

This is a bombshell: "the Pentagon wanted the company to allow for the collection and analysis of unclassified, commercial bulk data on Americans, such as geolocation and web browsing data"
This kind of agenda echoes the defunded Total Information Awareness effort, post-9/11
Whatβs the German word for aggressively refreshing to see code changes on your local environment, only to realize youβve been staring at production the whole time?

HEYYYYY BROSK!!!! It is completely 100% egg salad to be here. What's happened recently: We went to the airport in Newark to get a plane to the Netherlands, to stay with friends. While in the Netherlands we ate food, breathed air, and went on mom-mandated walks which were completely unnecessary. Then we took a train to Paris. Our Uber driver that took us to our kind-of-shitty-but-good-at-hiding-it hotel, had totes good vibes. The hotel lobby was high-key good vibes. We saw some stuff, ate some stuff, and did other stuff in Paris (like we went to this crepe place right? and the waiter was so fire). Then we took a train BACK to the Netherlands, and there was some delays which i low-key did not enjoy. We arrived before dinnertime, and we acted like to cool cats we totally are - except the grownups who are high-key lame. We were then told we would be woken up at 5:30 AM to go to the airport, and let me tell you, i did NOT vibe with this decision ('cause early morning are SUPER cheugy), but i was like "bet", right? (No cap, i swear). And then we WERE, and honestly, i wish i could never do that again. and then we left and got on a plane and went to the newark airport, and honestly i was surprised by how nice it was because i do not vibe with jersey on any level. so much negative energy yk? and then we got a car home. Three years ago today my 15 year old (at the time) posted this summation of our Paris trip. It continues to delight and bring me joy.
Buggy as hell it seams but a great idea and you got to start somewhere news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4714...

First time I ever saw a snowboarder in the subway
NYC is always better with less cars. 23rd street just now.
A CitiBike at its stand, covered high with snow during the blizzard in NYC
A Citibike is not on the cards for todayβs commute

Snow on elevated subway tracks at Smith & 9th stop in Brooklyn. Downtown Manhattan clearly visible in background.

Fresh snow falling on street. Photo looking down street at night. Cars and trees on either side covered in snow.

There are a couple of folks Iβd share this with but wanted to clarify if this is remote or onsite in Arlington?
I think that settles it. As backup I include a partial map of Luas stations
I include them only in passing, but I hope that even if they mess up on street addresses theyβre somewhat good at neighborhood and town level. One hopes.
When I lived there for a year, my mailing address used βPhibsboroughβ. Apple and Google Maps back that up Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
