I wrote up a bit about my design process and how I've been using AI to assist with different tasks along the way. I hope you find it interesting and useful!
If βsubstandard scienceβ is the base of your argument, then why cut funding to universities and research centers that are working on improving it? Especially when that science has been proven to save lives?
A personal update on Wizard Workshopβs first month and why I started it, what Iβve been navigating behind the scenes, and what Iβm hoping to build. Thank you for reading and being a part of my journey.
Prompt engineering -> vibe coding -> neural software. Things keep moving faster and fasterβ¦ donβt expect it to stop. #shipofthesus
Dropped my phone and broke the screen todayβ¦ first phone screen Iβve ever broken for about 20 years π’
I also have a TON of medical bills so itβs very difficult to manage whats legit or not.
I probably get 3-5 spam texts a day asking me for things⦠no way am I clicking that link!
When will companies figure out that texting people links to bills from random 3rd party payment services is a horrible idea? No way to verify who its coming from. The employees donβt seem to know either π€·
I also started hosting generated HTML pages from n8n web hooks because why not? π€ͺ
running codex agent inside docker
I started playing around with an @n8n.io node triggering docker to execute #CodexCLI. Seems to be working? π
Read about my new game and how Iβm building it in my @wizardworkshop.studio blog post! What types of cities would you want to create?
I'm starting a new company! Read about it @ wizardworkshop.studio/wizard-works...
Using OpenWebUI + n8n is a killer combo. n8n can now host MCPs. I'll be building a Vikunja MCP so I can use LLMs for task management.
There's a lot of admin and operational stuff I'd love to automate. Glance is a pretty easy to use dashboard I setup to monitor everything.
A dashboard with a list of services: Glance, Open Web UI, Watchtower, n8n, Postgres, Ollama, Vikunja
I have been shifting more and more of my time towards starting a new company... I started putting together a "company in a box" which is a Docker container configured with all the services I'm using.
Wooohoo, got my multiplayer sessions working! Lots to clean up, but its fun to see resources change in real time between players :)
I got all this setup so I can start adding in multiplayer features into the game. It will be great to see how they work inside of a Discord Activity.
I also went with supabase.com as my database. I haven't done a lot with it yet, but it does the job and is simple.
The backend is running on railway.com for now. It was very easy to setup and get things deployed and working with Cloudflare.
Basic building and upgrading features are in, but its all placeholder content as this point. I also need to do a pretty big pass on mobile responsive css, so works best if you try it in a desktop browser.
Got a deployment up at cityofcuriosity.com to test authentication flow through Discord. The game can auth as either an Activity or in a web app, with the same account which is pretty cool. #gamedev
A screenshot of a web game with a grid of emoji for different buildings in a city.
The city grid is now working and you can buy and upgrade buildings and all the metrics and resources are (mostly) working. I might try getting it to a sate I can deploy it soon, just been focusing on some gameplay which has been fun :)
I needed to take a break from social media for a bit, but I've been working on some projects you can read about @ projects.jonaswills.com
Ugh! I once showed up to an infusion 15 min late because of this and they made me reschedule π€¬
There's a lot of chaos in the world right now and the best thing I can think of doing is focusing on what I do best and try to apply it into a game about building supportive communities and creating positive future narratives β€οΈ
It's been a tough month, but it's been good to have a project to focus on and I'm excited about the potential and motivated to keep working on it.
Next month my focus will be on the design and scope of a complete game. I also need to start talking about the larger picture. Having a project to show your effort is a key step to get folks interested in what you're doing.
My goal was focusing on prototyping the whole process of setting up the frameworks and tech stack needed to run a game on Discord. There is a lot here, and many improvements to be made.... but that's the point of a prototype. Move fast and break things!
An incomplete game running inside of Discord.
Today I hit my milestone and launched a production environment that will work on Discord. It's far from perfect, and not much of a game yet. The web deployment is at protocitysim.jonaswills.com #gamedev
