Happy birthday Hunty!
His apprentice was ready to go home to his amazing wife. But the fisherman wanted to beat the record set by the previous day and refused to turn the boat around. The choppy ocean kicked the boat around like a can as the cold rain whipped the menβs faces like so many branches pulled back on a hike. As the fisherman was about to pull up his last netful, the waves finally tossed him over the edge of the boat. His apprentice caught him, but even hands sticky with fish guts could not overcome the force of the gale! The apprentice felt the masterβs fingers slip through his grasp. The fisherman said to himself, βI donβt want to die. I haven't caught enough fish at all.β But he knew this was the end. Moments later, he opened his eyes. βI lived!,β he said. But his voice was caught in a net of needly teeth. Surrounded by darkness, a light bobbed just in front of his face, no matter where he turned. Here at the bottom of the sea, there were lots more fish to catch. Full transcript at link!

PANEL 1: NARRATOR: "Cultivating the measured NPR cadence and placid deference to the military that characterizes the ideal neoliberal subject, Clark Kent returns to the editorial meeting..." A group of DAILY PLANET reporters are in a meeting, Clark Kent is responding to a question from his boss. CLARK: "Well, chief, the bombing campaign--" PANEL 2: Clark is talking and the other reporters and co-workers look unhappy. CLARK: "Obviously war in the region is not-ah-"ideal," but regime change could ultimately provide socioeconomic benefits that far outweigh the regrettable civilian casualties..." CLARK (thinking): "As Superman, last son of Krypton, these words of course sicken me; however, it's Clark Kent's job to manufacture consent!" PANEL 3: (inset in a larger panel) One reporter is whispering to another. REPORTER: "Kent is such an off-putting sociopath" REPORTER 2: "I hope he kills himself". An arrow points to this inset panel that reads "Thanks to super-hearing" from Clark's ear. Clark is smiling and thinking to himself. CLARK (thinking): "Looks like my secret identity as Clark Kent is safe...FOR NOW!"

"Transition of Power" - the last ichthyosaurs survived until the Early-Late Cretaceous transition, around the time mosasaurs began to bloom. These represent generic/hypothetical species from the Campanian (Julio Lacerda)
Ediacaran biota of Mistaken Point, Newfoundland (Henry Sharpe)
A juvenile Edgarosaurus has a rare and surprising encounter with an Onchopristis saw skate (Tosha Hollmann aka fishboy)
Marjum Formation, deepest of House Range Embayment deposits from 10m years after Burgess Shale (Christian M.)
I feel like artificially-lit deep sea #paleoart is a unique artifact of our time where photography/video of the deepest & darkest parts of the ocean is fairly commonplace and accessible

A cartoon drawing of various canines and a feline next to handwritten text. The first is a surly-looking wolf in a bathrobe gazing at the viewer while holding a coffee cup; text reads "Don't talk to me until I've had my coffee." The next shows two wolves happily drinking coffee together, with text reading "Only talk to me whilst drinking coffee." The next shows a wolf vibrating with emanata resembling scintillating scotoma around him; another gazes at him with concern. Text reads "Solely talk to me after I've consumed coffee." Lastly, a positively radiant cat looks at the viewer from a box with a nuclear trefoil on the front of it. Text reads "talk to me not knowing whether or not I've had my coffee."
Life and the richness of human experience mean nothing to these despicable freaks.

Beanie baby homunculus, half-formed in white fabric. Scattered beans surround it. It has but a single arm.
"[B]y the dim and yellow light of the moon, as it forced its way through the window shutters, I beheld the wretchβthe miserable monster whom I had created."

For a while we had nothing to add about The News: after all, you live here too! Then it hit us: that's the point. You live here too! We discuss how this deep truth exposes the evil of ICE, the idiocy of Dems, and the solidarity of ordinary citizens. You live here too!

photograph from the 80's of the wrestler Sting wearing a Gold's Gym shirt and sunglasses, leaning against a shelf in a bookstore and positively cheesing at an open copy of The Far Side Gallery 2, a collection of Far Side Cartoons.
what if i told you, through the power of forensic analysis, we are closer than ever to knowing the exact Far Side cartoon that is making Sting smile in this iconic photo. 𧡠π
Such a beautiful cover!
A parade of funny little animals wearing big paper-mache masks, there's a swallow flying over them. A white and blue kitten dressed as a dragon smiles at the reader. The title says "Segavecchia, Cotignola, 2026, 575esima Ed." in white letters.
I was asked to draw the cover for my hometown's magazine commemorating the Segavecchia festival, a celebration of Spring of likely pagan origins held yearly halfway through Lent, and codified in the 1450s.

My condolences. The same thing happened to me last year, and it turned out someone had added me to a starter pack that a bunch of these accounts were using.
