The Dream of the Butterfly

A grainy, black and white image of two interacting galaxies. The top galaxy is seen edge-on, forming an almost vertical line. It's bright central core extends into a bridge of stars and star clusters that connects to it's companion below. The bottom galaxy is a disrupted spiral seen almost face-on. It has two spiral arms that are dotted with bright star clusters. A third spiral overlaps partially with the top spiral arm and loops counter-clockwise down, extending beyond the galaxy in a faint trail. Just off frame is what appears to be a bright star, which shines light into the left half of the image and creates a circular reflection artifact on the right half of the image. A few white dots, which are stars, are seen on the black background.
