Absolutely recommend checking this out, even if you’re new to the genre. The story especially hits home with current events and things like Covid (even though it came out pre-covid which is crazyyyy), and felt especially respectful to the subject matter & tribes it’s portraying.

And the story?? Mia and Jake are a beautifully communicative couple without either feeling too whiny, annoying or poorly written- you’re genuinely rooting for them the whole time, even when there are disagreements or oddities. It’s again been rare to find such a real feeling couple dynamic 💜

There were times I’d be dirty and in need of food without an anti-parasitic to hand, or recently bitten by a snake and desperately trying to find anti venom or just make a bed to sleep it off- yet it never felt hopeless or cruelly punishing. That’s been a rarity for me in games like this, so it’s 💯

There’s a slightly steep but not infuriating learning curve for the mechanics, but once you get to know them it’s a great time- I especially love the ‘check limbs for jungle atrocities’ and the easy access backpack 🎒

There was also a genuinely fun pressure to resolving maladies and injuries…

Y’all, if a practice event is using ChatGPT scripts, skip it. First of all, you deserve better quality material (and instructors) to work with. Second, showing disrespect to writers or any other creatives by using GenAI trained on their work disrespects all of us.

It was a great lesson though, I’d love to start a little casting helper for university students looking for VAs, make sure everything’s solid and as fairly done as possible

100%! Though our uni also had budgets for things like hiring VAs, and I think it was great practice for getting industry standards integrated into people’s minds, so seeing more of that would be great too 👀

I know I’m not able to pay masses for projects I run, but I do pay and make up the difference however possible- art, setting up IMDB profiles etc.

The number of unpaid projects I see asking for the moon to then not give directions on sides or that demand fast deadlines is toooo much.

It sets a tone for communication on both sides, working to eliminate entitlement & unfair expectations. It’s skin in the game for a project creator, and a paid gig for an actor, raising all ships if you will.

Of course there’ll be exceptions, but I truly think this would improve a lot of projects.
