Shame we're not also working to reduce or prevent the climate shocks or war.

The "we're all trying to find the guy who did this!" hotdog meme

Generations aren't real. They're about promoting contemptuous stereotypes of young people so we won't organise together against the owning class.

The media are obsessed, no one else.

Maybe if she saw it coming she shouldn't have been so comprehensively shit.

Maybe if she actually cared about preventing her predicted future she'd be less beholden to the corrupt corporate interests, genocide enthusiasts, and warmongers that manifested it.

Maybe she didn't actually give a toss.

Signs of Spring

So many succulents! I like that the humble spider plant features too.

It'd be utterly irresponsible even if nuclear power was necessary. Which it is not.

We'd be building up huge stocks of moderately radioactive material, and smaller stocks of intensely radioactive and toxic material, for absolutely no reason - and paying more to do it, for zero benefit.

Lunacy.

07.03.2026 11:54 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

That's ridiculous. An impact event of that kind is entirely outside our control and vanishingly unlikely on these timescales.

Putting steel drums in (currently!) stable geological vaults is a choice we make, and we can't predict how groundwater flow will be altered by climate change.

For millennia? With certainty?

No one can make that assertion in good faith.

i can't believe bluesky user shaunskull publicly advocated for the dumping of untreated poisonous waste into our oceans

07.03.2026 05:24 ๐Ÿ‘ 4 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Only if you disregard nuclear waste, which cannot be stored for the timeframes required to make it safe.

We also have no uranium, so we'd have to import that. Same problem as with oil.

We're also building nuclear plants (like Sizewell C) on rapidly eroding coastlines, which is very dangerous.

07.03.2026 05:05 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

They're doing amazing work on ocean renewables in Orkney. Wave generators there are in active development and improving all the time.

There's the option of tidal, which is also improving to mitigate the ecological costs.

Solar is rapidly improving, including panels that work under grey skies.

07.03.2026 05:02 ๐Ÿ‘ 5 ๐Ÿ” 1 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

We also have no safe way of storing nuclear waste (because it's impossible) so we'll be paying to put that in leaky barrels for centuries.

Renewables (with the required grid upgrades) are cheaper, safer, quicker to build, more secure (no imported fuel), and ownership can be devolved to communities.

They have a national power company that already built a ton of (now aging) reactors a long time ago. We don't have either of those things.

In fact, EDF (France's power company) partly owns Sizewell C, so we're subsidising French energy costs.

I completely agree, but please be careful with the term 'clean' energy. I usually see disingenuous politicians use it so they can include scams like carbon capture, carbon offsetting, nuclear power, and biomass (eg. Drax).

Deliberate misinformation to help their friends in big corporations. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ

06.03.2026 22:50 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 1 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Urgh, yes, carbon capture is one of the biggest scams of the century.

Sizewell C seems to be evidence to the contrary

A photograph of the sky at dusk. A deep blue sky gradually brightens to peach and orange where the sun set maybe 20 minutes before. Right on the horizon is a bright point of light, the planet Venus.

I managed to catch Venus setting just after the sun today! ๐Ÿช

The quality is a bit wanky because my phone camera ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ๐˜บ hates low light conditions, but hey, it counts!

www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/ni... has a cool sky map with adjustable time settings for checking this kind of thing ๐Ÿ˜Š

Tweet by Darren Johnson:

This post is what they are not happy about. I knew at the time it would put my 37-year membership of the party in jeopardy but I was not going to sit back and stay silent while leading members of the Green Party went out of their way to trash the findings of the Cass Review.

Quoted tweet by Darren Johnson in response to Zoe Garbett:

"Vote Green if you want to completely ignore medical evidence and see more children pumped full of harmful drugs"

Absolutely effing outrageous.

Zoe Garbett's tweet:

"There's no middle ground between respecting trans people's humanity and rejecting it"

Following the Cass Review, Londoners can be confident that a vote for me is a vote for someone who has LGBTQIA+ people's backs.

"it dawned on the govt that the British were actually behaving like the Nazis they were supposed to be fighting"

An important lesson that has been forgotten, it seems. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ

Less shitstalgia and more history like this.

It's not my place to offer forgiveness or otherwise to the ""good"" Labour MPs regarding their tolerance of rampaging transphobia, but if it were, this would be light years away from being sufficient.
