Sorry, words are hard π
I've quoted a @theguardian.com post here and then blocked them. It should look blocked for you too, even if you haven't blocked them.
Same if they blocked me.

Do you know about the quote post block thing?
If someone quote posts someone else, then either of those people blocks the other at a later date, the quoted post then shows as blocked for literally everyone. Confused me for a long time
Yeah, I think those ideas have become so ingrained that it's sometimes difficult to step outside them. I certainly struggle at times.
Fascinating how the Guardian is happy to talk about the ways society can help smokers regain control, but when the same logic is applied to other drugs in Green Party policy it's suddenly totally unworkable.
To me it's fairly clear that we're talking about a rapid transition for society as a whole, not individual people shelling out to replace gas boilers and such.
Plus i think the bad planning can be mitigated somewhat by a nationalised approach rather than depending upon for-profit corporations.
@wefail.bsky.social has some suggestions you might find appropriate
You should have met with Wes Streeting to discuss your concerns about Wes Streeting
Sorry, I don't think we're getting anywhere here so I'm gonna bounce. Take care β
It really pisses me off when MPs whine about social media and conflate criticism with abuse.
Zarah Sultana being relentlessly subjected to racist filth is not the same as condemning Streeting's NHS privatisation or calling him a ratbastard for subjecting trans kids to torture.
This government disgusts me. It revels in cruelty and spite.
What the fuck is the point of society if we refuse to take care of vulnerable people?
Kathy Burke as Linda from gimme gimme gimme

Keir "Legitimate Concerns" Starmer, noted genocide enthusiast and trans exterminationist?
Fascist-quoting ideologue Keir Starmer, the embodiment of centrism always sliding to the right?
Zealous defender of infinite growth mythology Keir Starmer, sworn enemy of the fair trial?
Hmm
It's great. I know the whole 'wow new life' thing is a bit of a clichΓ© but I don't care!
sounds like it's time to learn lucid dreaming and absolutely fuck that guy up. bulbasaur's got your back
You suggest that Zack is being 'energy blind', but I feel like you are equally 'blind' to the capitalist status quo.
To go back to your point, our society uses fossil fuels and not renewables because it profits the people who own the infrastructure, not because renewables can't do the job.
When it does happen it's a response to government subsidy: free money for corporations.
A lot of the pressures you're describing are not intrinsic - they're just capitalism. Capitalism is irrational by definition; it does things because they're profitable, not because they need to be done.
I think you underestimate the societal inertia caused by a profit seeking owning class.
The owning class already owns fossil fuel infrastructure. Transitioning away from it requires very substantial investment for no short term gain, so they don't autonomously do it on a large scale.
Zack on stage at wembley.

Thank you, Wembley.

No Veronica, I don't. Enlighten me.
A close up of some bare soil. Two seedlings are just emerging, one of which still has the distinctive seed case of a cornflower stuck on top.
My cornflowers aren't wasting any time. These went in only a few days ago π

This is a cross party statement in solidarity with @greenpartyhan.bsky.social after what happened this weekend.
Thanks to all the LGBT and Feminist organisations within all the respective parties for signing this, and it was amazing working with you all.
I don't know how well it applies to the US but schools often have lots of positions for various admin, data, and office work. Not everything is student-facing; might be worth a look.
No power generation solution is perfect, but nuclear simply doesn't provide anything of sufficient value to outweigh the downsides.
They also need lots of cooling so many are built by the sea, which is a huge problem for reactors like Sizewell C that are built on rapidly eroding coastlines without proper provision for coastal defences or storm protections.
France struggles to keep theirs working due to climate change heating.
It's also a false economy. Nuclear plants are extremely expensive to build and often end up with private investors siphoning off profits, increasing electricity costs.
We also have no uranium in the UK, so it doesn't help with energy security.
There's no solution for storing nuclear waste other than burying it and hoping it doesn't get out for thousands of years, which is how long it takes for some of the nucleotides to decay by half.
There's also the risk of accidents and leaks, which can be minor or (rarely) catastrophic.
Agreed on all points. The best time to start resolving them was yesterday, and the second best time is today.
The fossil fuel lobbyists robbed us of a lot of time by blocking climate action and hiding the wider industrial changes we needed to make. But we can start today, as Zack says in his post!
I know I will probably be accused of "living on other planets" logic for this kind of thing, but the technology exists and it is being refined. Combined with the abolition of the capitalist death drive for infinite growth, we can make production and consumption meet in the middle.
Yes, we need energy to make these things, but we're so much better at that than we used to be. We can use microorganisms and their enzymes to dramatically reduce energy costs for biosynthetics. Biodegradable plastics can be decomposed into nutrients to feed the next stage of production.
