their final selling point is gonna be "You won't have to use your brains anymore" and then it will be Night Of The Brainless 2, The Apotheosis
ahaha, actually Xara moved back to a "buy once" (other than subscribe) approach after backlash for that decision, but I had moved to Affinity already and now I have all my documents in that format (plus it seems it became quite costly)
(I'll continue using v2 but don't know about v3)
My story is I was using Xara Designer for more than a decade (cheaper, faster, more agile than Illustrator), then 2 years ago Xara shifted to an Adobe-like monthly subscription and I shifted to Affinity. Which I adapted to even if it's clunky at times, but now I don't trust this new move at all :|
Wait, so I'm discovering just now that Affinity has been bought by Canva and now all of its products are merged into one that is free except for AI features? Which sounds nice aka free because fuck AI, until you realize that Canva is aaaaall about AI so I don't trust them at all? RIP Affinity? π₯²
On Tuesday 10, next week, @iamleyeti.bsky.social will be presenting his workshop about writing short stories as a way to prototype game narratives.
The presentation can be access through Eventbrite here: www.eventbrite.com/e/prototypin...
Presentation on March 10!
Workshop starts on April 14!
Yeah, looks like we will soon release a new experiment in playable philosophy called
>> 'HAMM-3R" <<
(made with @amidos2006.bsky.social and @demigiant.com and others who are not on Bluesky).
We will demo it and give a short talk in Valletta on March the 24th :) Come say hi!

Article title: "Unity says its AI tech will soon be able to prompt full casual games into existence"
Article excerpt: "AI-driven authoring is our second major area of focus for 2026," said Bromberg. "At the Game Developer Conference in March, we'll be unveiling a beta of the new upgraded Unity AI, which will enable developers to prompt full casual games into existence with natural language only, native to our platformβso it's simple to move from prototype to finished product."
Just what we needed from a gamedev engine: a way to fill the market with even more slop, as fast as possible. Unity, why would you focus so much on things whose only yield for us gamedevs is a sinking depression? It seems like you really don't like us anymore
I had the chance to work on this game as a gameplay and UI programmer.
If you like BSG, you should definitely check it out!
(I know, gifs are dΓ©modΓ©. I still like them tho, what can I do)
I would honestly pay (a little) extra to have Affinity stop asking me if I want to update it EEEVERY TIME I OPEN IT π
Hey y'all.
A South African dev released a blackity black game during BHM and it's currently getting the usual suspects in the reviews.
Imma grab this up myself anyway, but can we all be some chums and help push the racists out of the reviews? π
For ages @peterpunk.bsky.social tried to convince me that microwaving tea was bad, and now that I stopped I see he was right... and that he could've easily convinced me by saying: "It's like putting pasta in the pot before it boils." How did you not think of that, PP!
very good point, I mean pointinelli
Post a banger that isn't in English

... was that very few students used it. Anyway, screw censorship (obviously) and any kind of reductive categorization (young-adult included) that only exist to stifle discovery and make young people feel like they wouldn't be capable of reading other kinds of books. Bof!
... That library (public library of a public school) also had comic magazines, like Eternauta and Comic Art, where sometimes you could even find naked people, imagine that! I spent so much time in there and the only sad thing, in hindsight (because I liked it at the time)...
Just read that Gabriel Garcia MΓ‘rquez (among many others) has been censored from libraries in some US states, and I remember how important my highschool library was to my young self, with MΓ rquez, Calvino and so many others, who helped me understand the world and, as it often happens, myself...
Epic made provably incorrect statements about the gameβs content, refused to provide details supporting their claims, and has not shared their claimed AO IARC certificate, which normally includes a link for the developer to appeal. They do not βlove that studioβ, they have effectively ghosted us
A Unity console log with pretty colors and icons
I like my logs colored (but I do have a custom log system that strips html tags from builds, otherwise they would be unreadable)
I'm seeing a lot of feedbacks of people reaching the top using our assist features and saying "it was still difficult". I love that! Rewind can seem like a cheatcode, but it doesn't strip of the experience. Accessibility is not a design cave in, it's actually radical π€
Ok, yes, I exaggerated with this dynamic color tool I made
(but I like it ^_^)
a cryptic and confusing image of a color tool window next to a button whose colors were assigned by said color tool
I went a little crazy doing this Unity color tool, but I like it π
