Abstract photography series on cottonwood leaves in various stages of decay. This horizontal color photograph is an extreme close-up of a leaf set against a golden-yellow background. The leaf has become a natural skeletal leaf—one in which the fleshy tissue has largely decomposed, leaving behind the delicate network of veins. Only a small amount of flesh remains between the veins, perhaps about three percent. The main vein begins in the lower left corner and runs diagonally toward the upper right.
