PlannerVersion 2.0 for Amazon DocumentDB (with MongoDB compatibility) 5.0 delivers up to 10x performance improvement over the prior version when using find and update operators with indexes. Performance improvements primarily come from using more optimal index plans and enabling index scan support for operators such as negation operators ($neq, $nin) and nested $elementMatch. PlannerVersion 2.0 queries run faster through better cost estimation techniques, optimized algorithms, and enhanced stability. PlannerVersion 2.0 also simplifies query syntax. For example, you no longer need to provide explicit hints for $regex queries to utilize indexes. PlannerVersion 2.0 is available in all AWS Regions where Amazon DocumentDB 5.0 is supported. You can enable it by simply modifying the corresponding parameter in your cluster parameter group. The change does not require a cluster restart or cause any downtime. Customers moving to IPv6 can simplify their network stack by running their databases on a dual-stack network that supports both IPv4 and IPv6. Amazon DocumentDB now offers one-click connectivity with CloudShell Starting today, you can connect to your Amazon DocumentDB (with MongoDB compatibility) clusters with a single click through AWS CloudShell directly from the AWS Management Console. This new feature allows our customers to easily connect to their DocumentDB clusters directly from their browser, without requiring any local setup. One-click connectivity with Cloudshell automatically configures VPCs, security groups, and MongoDB shell installation, eliminating the need for manual tasks like setting up security groups and ingress/egress rules. This streamlines the process for database administrators and developers, enabling them to connect quickly to their DocumentDB cluster to preview data or execute adhoc queries. This feature is available in all AWS Regions where both Amazon DocumentDB and AWS CloudShell services are supported. Announcing NVMe-backed R6gd Instances for Amazon DocumentDB (with MongoDB Compatibility) Amazon DocumentDB (with MongoDB Compatibility) introduces NVMe-backed R6gd Instances, offering up to 7x faster query performance for applications with large datasets exceeding regular instance memory. These instances can expand the data caching capacity by up to 7 times compared to a regular instance. NVMe-backed R6gd Instances leverage the local non-volatile memory express (NVMe)-based SSD storage available on r6gd instances to store ephemeral data, reducing network-based storage access, and improving read latency and throughput. Database pages evicted from the in-memory buffer cache are cached on local NVMe storage. Additionally, temporary space is hosted on local SSD instead of network storage, reducing the latency of queries involving sorts by up to 2x and accelerating resource-intensive operations like index builds. Customers can get started with NVMe-backed R6gd Instances through the AWS Management Console, CLI, and SDK by modifying their Amazon DocumentDB database cluster or creating a new one using R6gd instances. NVMe-backed R6gd Instances are available for Amazon DocumentDB V5.0 on both Standard and IO-Optimized cluster storage configurations. AWS Backup now supports resource type and multiple tag selections in backup policies Today, AWS Backup announces additional options to assign resources to a backup policy on AWS Organizations. Customers can now select specific resources by resource type and exclude them based on resource type or tag. They can also use the combination of multiple tags within the same resource selection. With additional options to select resources, customers can implement flexible backup strategies across their organizations by combining multiple resource types and/or tags. They can also exclude resources they do not want to back up using resource type or tag, optimizing cost on non-critical resources. To get started, use your AWS Organizations' management account to create or edit an AWS Backup policy. Then, create or modify a resource selection using the AWS Organizations' API, CLI, or JSON editor in either the AWS Organizations or AWS Backup console.
