One of the things I have learned after nearly 40 years online, is no one likes #autodidactic learners, especially ones with multiple interests.
Our society (and our algorithms) prefer specialists. We want people who can lock in on their specialty to commodify that for search engine harmony.

Agreed. Another barrier is credentials. The cost, time sink, and obstacles to getting degrees to "prove" your knowledge/talents is a huge hurdle, particularly for mothers. Plus the devaluation of women/parenting/education/etc. itself. Not recognizing #autodidactic #polymaths is endemic atp.
