My Ides of March was productive. I ordered a new sonic toothbrush 🪥 in the wee hours of the morning and it arrived before the early evening.

I enjoyed a healthy #Caesar salad 🥗 with chicken 🍗 from Wendy’s. They have a lot of room for improvement on crafting a proper Caesar.

So we did.

I know there’s a whole read-not-said situation with the Ides of March

“Ides” is the Roman word for the middle of the month

And it was probably pronounced ee-DAYS

(Roman Latin & Liturgical Latin are two very different animals as far as pronunciation goes. Ask me about the letter C 👻) #Ides #Caesar

__Did You Know?__

Unlike in the Shakespeare play, Caesar's last words were not "Et tu, Brute?" ("And you, Brutus?"). Instead they were reported as "You, too, my child?" (Source: History.com)

Penny-an a (Tumblr):

I think the rain why the assassination of Julius Caesar is one of the funniest political assassins is for this very simple reason:

1 guy stabs 1 guy: Not funny. That's murder.
2 Guys Stan 1 guy: even less funny. That's 2 against 1.
60 his stab 1 guy: Uproariously funny. Why do you need so many guys?

emmikay (Tumblr): 60 guys only manage to stab the 1 guy 23 times: I can't fucking breathe I'm laughing too hard, you suck at this

The #IdesPosting will continue until morale improves (or until Caesar gets stabbed ~23 times by ~60 guys)

Et tu, Brute? The real story of Brutus’ betrayal of Caesar Marcus Junius Brutus was a Roman politician, leader, orator—and one of history’s most infamous assassins. Why did he launch a conspiracy to kill Julius Caesar?

"In Caesar’s final moments, surrounded by conspirators, there was no more painful stab wound than that inflicted by Brutus. Historians Plutarch and Appian claim that at first the dictator resisted his attackers, but upon seeing Brutus, he gave up."

They scheduled the Oscars on the same day as the Ides of March for a reason...

If all the Oscar winners do not get knives with which to stab a bunch of trash bags in the shape of a man for our amusement, are they really even winners???

Julius Caesar's Forgotten Assassin | HISTORY William Shakespeare might have given Marcus Junius Brutus all the credit, but Caesar's true betrayer was a much close...

This article argues that in his play named after the Roman dictator Julius #Caesar, Shakespeare immortalized the wrong man. #Decimus was captured and executed within two years; Brutus and Cassius took slightly longer to meet their ends.

It is the Ides of March, which was a way ancient Romans described a combination of events: a full moon, mid March,
the start of spring, and, on the Julian calendar,
the beginning of the new year, which meant parties.
