But the FSMA exemptions make it possible for Societies to easily and cheaply offer #CommunityShares to the general public in ways Companies are unable to do.
Technically the cap is something like "enough to attract and retain investment".
Societies offer #WithdrawableShares (what have become known as #CommunityShares) which are not supposed to be purely about financial return and are exempt from various parts of the FSMA that regulates share offers
