A juvenile rat, of the approximate size that our cat keeps bringing in, fashioned out of linen-coloured 8-ply cotton thread using crochet. I started with a 4-loop spiral at the tail end, progressing into a body formed by quickly expanding the spiral, then narrowing for the neck, and re-growing for the head, and finishing off with the nose. I added in back feet (8 chain stitches, crocheted back into the body), front paws (6 chain stitches, similarly added), two ears (6 chain stitches looped back and joined up in arbitrary ways), and two eyes (... I don't know... knotty things looping back a bit). Don't ask me for the pattern; I have no idea. I just looked at how I wanted the spiral / loop to grow, then tried to add / remove stitches until it looked roughly okay.

Crochet hacky sack in 8-ply linen thread with an inside filling composed of red beans inside an orange balloon. The hacky sack is about 5cm in diameter.

Crochet pencil case with walnut oil-stained cherry wood toggles as fasteners. The pencil case is made from 8 ply cotton, with alternating layers of linen-coloured and blue tie-dyed thread.

Pencil case crochet, about 2/3 finished. Because I had two skeins (or whatever they're called) of cotton that individually weren't enough cotton, I'm alternating the layers, one layer with linen coloured cotton, the next with blue tie-died cotton. The case is shown here still attached to the cotton skeins, with three stitch markers to identify the ends and the current thread end. There are some pens inside the case.
#CrochetProject for my third project, I'm doing a pencil case.
I based the pattern on the pot warmers, but added some depth in the first few layers, growing out to +2, then +4, then finally +6 at each end.
I tried putting some extra stuff at the ends, but it's made a weird parallelogram shape.
A little mid winter taste of The Great British Crochet Off. I am already geared up for next series.

Blue tie-died cotton crochet pot holder, just before adding a loop and stitching up the end. The diagonal edges are marked up every 5 loops with locking stitch markers. There is a wooden 4mm crochet hook laid on top of the fabric.
