Have you noticed:

1) how often humans, organisations & societies feel a need to reduce a deep "Purpose" to easily measured Metrics?

2) How often the Metrics then replace the Purpose as the focus, even if the metrics become disassociated from the deeper purpose?

Shouldn't we be very concerned about how easily and quickly people feel compelled to fix their personal identity to one of the sides in a conflict, whether it is political, commercial, legal or cultural, rather than retain a more independent and open minded identity?

History - Wikipedia

What History were you taught?

The History I was taught was 'Bad History', in the sense that it was nearly all about conflict & power,

PLUS

it has helped to maintain the continuing acceptance of a power-games culture in #politics.

The Limits of Narratives & Histories

Narratives & Histories can bring out one or more perspectives (which may be sound or not) of lives or events, but I have never discovered a narrative or history that expresses fully the complex reality of lives or events.

We may each be an individual but do any of us have a single personality?

Is a helpful model to understand a person as having a family of personalities, perhaps few or many, some close or disparate, probably with a mix of Guardian, Mature, and Immature characters?

EPIC 2 (for evaluating political policies)...

E - Evidence base?
P - Principles derived from?
I - Implementable?
C - Comparison with Alternatives?

Thinking about frameworks with which to evaluate political policies, might one crude rule of thumb be to consider them using a ‘2 EPICs’ model:

EPIC 1:

E – Expected Effects?
P – People Involved & Affected
I – Indirect Impacts?
C- Costs

Within every life there will be things that are extraordinary.

Sometimes when one meets a person, some things that are extraordinary about them & their life will be obvious, but others will be hidden.

The question is how much of that will you see and understand?

Some Questions when framing any issue:

1 How has the issue been framed?
2 What axioms/assumptions does this framing rely on?
3 What is the logic behind using this framing?
4 How else could the issue be framed?
5 Should more than one frame be used?

How we self-identify is one of the most important decisions we make.

It is a complex subject, so how does #Education perform in helping us in thinking about it? Does it develop our understanding of the subject and ability to think about it, or does it merely seek to condition us?

We don't have to be Selfish to be Motivated!

Why do we allow "Win Against" mindsets to dominate our #politics, #economics and #education when we could all be better off if we were to give precedence to "Win Together" mindsets to create a better world for everyone and all life?

What if we are asking questions, proposing answers and assuming certain values, behaviours and contexts, based on limited and limiting thinking models?

Aren't we at risk of living out a shadow of the life we could all live?

Philosophical methodology - Wikipedia

The "Thinking Methods" we use play an important part in how and what we think. If we are only aware of one or a few thinking methods, doesn't it limit our range of thinking.

Shouldn't #education include greater study of thinking methods?

Some of my biggest mistakes in life have been when I have allowed biases in my feelings to take control of both what and how I think about an issue.

I wonder if that is a common problem for many/all humans, not just individually but at societal levels as well?

We are encouraged to think and live in #narratives, but we actually live as a part of interrelated complex systems. If only for that reason, I try to take the time to question narratives and only partially accept even the most apparently well-founded of them.

After reading this👇about Hallucinations in #AI [instances where models confidently generate an answer that isn’t true], might people start to think more about the level of hallucinations that also exist in human societies?

If the concept of 'Purpose' is an emergent quality/feature of conscious thought, then isn't one's Purpose simply what one consciously thinks it to be?

If so, though, isn't it rather important to think deeply about the influences affecting one's thoughts on one's Purpose?
