Calls for new EU Reference Laboratories for public health in four fields are now open The European Commission has issued four new calls for applications for the designation of EU Reference Laboratories (EURLs) for public health.

.@ec.europa.eu launched 4 new calls for applications to designate EU Reference Laboratories (EURLs) for public health in the following areas:

▪️ Clostridioides difficile
▪️ Sexually transmitted bacteria
▪️ Mycobacteria
▪️ Invasive bacteria

ECDC proposes new EU Reference Laboratories to strengthen Europe’s preparedness against infectious diseases ECDC is recommending the establishment of four new EU Reference Laboratories (EURLs) for public health.

Looking ahead, further laboratory support areas may include fungal pathogens, biotoxins, vectors and prion diseases, pending a 2026 consultation.
