Photo: 26-year-old OGDEN PHIPPS with jockey Francis Horn after winning his first stakes race in 1935 with “Sunny Jim” Fitzsimmons-trained White Cockade after winning the Youthful Stakes at Jamaica Race Course in Queens, NY. It was just three years after having registered his black and cherry silks with The Jockey Club. The silks were same as those of his grandfather Ogden Mills who owned a stable in France and raced in partnership with Lord Derby.
🎂OGDEN PHIPPS was born on this day in 1908.
