AWS Makes it Easier to Detect Firewall Configuration Changes -- AWSInsider Amazon now publishes AWS Network Firewall state changes to EventBridge, enabling real-time security automation that can immediately respond to firewall configuration changes, attachment modifications, and endpoint health issues.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Network Firewall now publishes key state change events to EventBridge, making it easier to automate validation, rollback, and alerting when firewall changes happen, writes Brien Posey.

How to Monitor Event Delivery in Amazon EventBridge

EventBridge pattern constraints you need to know:

→ 2,048 chars per pattern
→ 1,000 rule combinations ($or limit)
→ 30 wildcard rules per event bus
→ Numeric range: -5.0e9 to +5.0e9

Push logic into rules, keep Lambda for actual processing

The #1 mindset shift:

Events = business facts ("OrderConfirmed")
NOT state changes ("row_updated")

Rules match business concepts, not technical boundaries. Teams own their domain bus and evolve independently.

Amazon EventBridge Increases Event Payload Size to Support Richer Event-Driven Workflows -- AWSInsider New 1MB payload limit reduces the need for external storage and simplifies event-based architectures.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) increases Amazon EventBridge max event payload size from 256 KB to 1 MB, enabling richer event-driven workflows with more context in the payload, less reliance on external storage, and less data chunking.

We go beyond “just add a queue” advice and get hands-on with real patterns and trade-offs using:

✅ SQS (workers, backpressure)
✅ EventBridge (pub/sub, loose coupling)
✅ Kinesis Data Streams (ordered, high throughput)

Use PascalCase when trying to pass parameters and environment variables to a Job Queue, not camelCase.

A tip for anyone attempting to pass environment variables from Amazon Event Bridge events to containerized tasks in the AWS Batch side of things:

Use PascalCase, not camelCase. The capitalization is important.

Leveraging on-premises APIs in cloud-based event-driven architectures Your company owns important, and sometimes critical, private APIs that reside on-premises and you would like to leverage them in workloads deployed on AWS. More precisely, you would like to make them part of your event-driven architecture, triggered by events or part of complex workflows. This blog post explains how you can leverage new capabilities from Amazon EventBridge and AWS Step Functions to easily trigger/call on-premises APIs without compromising on security.
