Delighted to welcome UN University of Peace colleagues and students from the Faculty of Law and International Relations of #AbatOlibaUniversity to @ifrc where we discussed #Peace, #FundamentalPrinciples & #InnovativeYouthEngagement.
The US government has long abandoned its duty to protect its citizens. Our quality of life means little to those in power, whose priorities lie in preserving their own influence and wealth. We cannot thrive as a nation when leadership neglects the well-being of the people.

Anyone accused of a sex crime who settled or was found guilty should be permanently barred from holding public office. Leaders must embody integrity and accountability, and such histories are incompatible with positions of public trust
#FundamentalPrinciples
Very good.
Being caught in a significant lie or omission should end a political career—not just due to public rejection, but because our institutions must reject dishonesty. Policies must ensure leaders who undermine trust and integrity are barred from holding power.

Please don't hesitate to share your own #FundamentalPrinciples
Everyone has their own lines that should never be crossed and fundamental outlooks that shape the way they engage with the world.
I've shared lots of mine, what are some of yours? /1
Money in politics is corrupt by nature. Corporations shouldn’t fund campaigns or offer gifts to gain influence. If they want attention, they should invest in the people: lift others out of poverty, build homes for the unhoused, and support the future we all deserve.

An image depicting "Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs" which describes the main categories of human needs in the form of a pyramid graph.
The richest country in the world should be capable of ensuring the basic physiological and safety needs of all its people. Hunger, shelter, and physical security are the foundation of any thriving society.
This is not a matter of lack of wealth, but of it's distribution.
#FundamentalPrinciples
AI’s rapid development leaves little time for adaptation & is no longer a distant future but an imminent reality.
Any and all automation must be taxed based on wages automated away. This tax should directly support our welfare systems.
I suggest 80% of lost wages to start.
#FundamentalPrinciples
The public deserves leaders they can trust to act in their best interests. Any leader, judge, or representative compromised by unresolved conflicts of interest has no place in a position of power.
#FundamentalPrinciples
Even the perception of a conflict of interest in the Judiciary or amongst our Representatives should disqualify them if left unresolved. Leaders must be held to the highest possible standards in every meaningful regard in order to ensure trust and integrity in Governance.
#FundamentalPrinciples
Public servants and politicians must live lives akin to the poorest and most underprivileged to truly understand and advocate for their needs. Empathy is essential for just leadership and there's is no better way to promote empathy than through experience.
#FundamentalPrinciples
Homosexuality is natural, observed across history and the animal kingdom. Claims to the contrary ignore well-documented evidence. Society must embrace diversity as a reflection of nature’s richness, not deny it. Christ never instructed us on homosexuality. Why not?
#FundamentalPrinciples
Men should not be enabled to regulate women in ways that don’t equally apply to men.
In cases like abortion, where lived experiences differ, untrained male opinions should carry no weight, most especially when their DNA is not involved. Gender equality in law is essential.
#FundamentalPrinciples
Society should make it possible for individuals to pursue personal aspirations: Creating, exploring, and engaging in self-sufficient projects without undue barriers. Modern society prevents individuals from reaching goals easily attained via modern tools and technology.
#FundamentalPrinciples
Anyone with a history of financial, sexual, or violent misconduct is unfit for leadership or enforcement roles at any level and of any variety. Those who support, associate with, or enable individuals guilty of such conduct to assume office should also be disqualified.
#FundamentalPrinciples
Knowledge is the highest calling, and objective truth is invaluable. Lies, misinformation, and slander undermine society and breed harm. Such acts should be prohibited, with a focus on cultivating transparency, honesty, and accountability across all public and private sectors
#FundamentalPrinciples
The pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness is an inalienable right for every individual. Society’s laws, policies and participants should protect these rights as foundational principles, ensuring that no entity—governmental or corporate—can infringe upon these rights.
#FundamentalPrinciples
People should defend one another against systems or individuals that exploit or oppress. This includes standing against corporate, political, and judicial systems that protect power over people. The protection of rights, resources, and well-being should always be prioritized.
#FundamentalPrinciples
AI, automation, and other advanced technologies should serve humanity’s well-being and not be used to exploit or subjugate. Public transparency and ethical standards should guide all technological advancements to prevent abuse and ensure equitable benefits.
#FundamentalPrinciples
Extreme wealth concentration is inherently at odds with the welfare of society. Laws and policies should limit wealth accumulation to prevent individuals from gaining excessive power over society’s resources, politics, and public discourse. No Billionaire is ally to Humanity.

#FundamentalPrinciples
A thriving society celebrates diversity and actively promotes inclusion. Differences in culture, experience, and perspective enrich society and improve resilience. Racism, homophobia, and xenophobia have no place in society and must be met with clear, unambiguous contempt.
#FundamentalPrinciples
Science and education should be prioritized and protected from political manipulation. Society should commit to the pursuit of knowledge and discovery, ensuring that public funding and support for scientific research are ample and unwavering.
#FundamentalPrinciples
Protecting the environment is a moral obligation. Businesses and governments should be held to strict regulations that prioritize ecological health over profit. Sacrificing nature for short-term gain is a betrayal of future generations and should spell the end of a Business.
#FundamentalPrinciples
Access to healthcare, education, housing, and food should be guaranteed for all. These are foundational rights, not privileges, and a society cannot thrive when people are denied these needs.
It should be priority before any other to care for, educate and protect one another
#FundamentalPrinciples
All public roles impacting individuals' lives, from Law enforcement & Judges to Teachers & Representatives, should require regular training in ethics, empathy, and responsibility. Those who fail to meet these standards shouldn’t be allowed to hold positions of public trust.
#FundamentalPrinciples
Leaders must be required to meet high ethical standards and be accountable for their actions. If they lack integrity or respect for others, they shouldn’t hold power in government, law, or education. Transparency and accountability should never be negotiable.
