This week the annual @hcwvshunger.bsky.social friendly “competition” resulted in $1,038,289 in donations to organizations fighting hunger

Doctors @shematologist.medsky.social and @tmprowell.bsky.social started the initiative which has raised $4,193,714 since 2020!

As his donation to his chosen hunger charity was huge even before any match, matching funds were not credited to any 2025 #HCWvsHunger team & will be used to support donor challenges in subsequent years. We've been calling it the Coco Miracle Fund (hope that's ok with him 🐶😍). #MedSky /10

For those of you surprised to see the late bump in #HCWvsHunger team totals, @ShyCollie (on Twitter) did that. He was the TRUE #ChaosGrenade we never saw coming with an 11th hr undirected donation of $211,260 (prior to matching) that we split evenly amongst all teams. SO. MUCH. FOOD, #MedSky!!🤩 /9

And the winners of #HCWvsHunger 2025, with $373,050, are the multidisciplinary #cancer care team, #DiagnoseAndTreats, representing #OncSky, #RadOncSky, #PathSky, & #Radiology. Amazing to have had a single team raise more 💰 in 2025 than in Year 1 OVERALL!

In 2nd place, with $336,162, is #KidVengers. This is unreal. They're an unmerged team of pediatricians with big hearts & a ground game like no one else. (Pro tip: Hire them to run your election campaign if they ever leave #MedSky.) They've WON 3 out of 6 #HCWvsHunger competitions! /6

In 3rd place, with $80,842, is the #IDSky team, #MEALioidosis. (FYI Melioidosis is due to gram neg Burkholderia pseudomallei, spread via contaminated air/soil/water, may follow weather disasters, & causes pneumonia, fever, etc...& then *MEAL* like #HCWvsHunger, get it? Since we began in 2020, #HCWvsHunger has raised $4,193,714! We had allowed ourselves to dream that we might have our best year yet in 2025 & make it to $4M, but getting to almost $4.2M was a wonderful surprise!! That can feed so many people. We are incredibly #grateful! 3/
