Every dataset reflects choices: what’s measured, what’s ignored, who’s included, and who’s left out.

Data can reinforce the very inequalities we’re trying to reduce. This is why a #Feminist and #Inclusive approach is critical.

There isn’t enough data to accurately measure progress on the SDGs.
And where data does exist, it’s often incomplete, inaccurate, or fails to reflect the experiences of entire groups of people.
“Accurate, timely and disaggregated data are vital for measuring progress towards the 17 SDGs and 169 associated targets”
“Without high-quality data providing an evidence base, it will be impossible to truly understand where we are succeeding and falling short on the SDGs”
“34 targets (20%) lack sufficient trend data or additional analysis”

A promotional graphic announcing a talk at PyCon US 2025. The top portion of the graphic features a gradient of purple shades. In the upper left corner, the Quansight logo, a stylized blue and white geometric design, is displayed, followed by "PyCon US 2025" in a bright green, sans-serif font. Below this, a white calendar icon precedes "MAY 16, 2025" in white text.

The main announcement, "Talk: Inclusive Data for 1.3 Billion: Designing Accessible Visualizations", is presented in a larger, bold white font and is left-aligned. To the right, a circular photograph of Pavithra Eswaramoorthy, a person with curly dark hair smiling and wearing a pink top, is set against a light pink background with abstract purple and white shapes. Below the photo, the name "Pavithra Eswaramoorthy" appears in a smaller, dark purple font.

A poster titled "Insights about 'representative data' from a study on disability and human rights in refugee contexts: Can data truly be representative without compromising autonomy?" is displayed on a table. The poster includes sections on representative data, disability data in refugee contexts, a framework for analysis, and implications. It features a large diagram in the center, summarizing key concepts related to data representation, autonomy, and human rights. Several bullet points and paragraphs detail the study’s findings, analysis, and conclusions. At the bottom, there is an "About the Author" section with a small portrait photo.
