A poem entitled: Honey She spreads honey on her lips and I think of bees. A man with a beard of bees that he found in a tree slowed with smoke and tempted down. How they cover him! Hiding the queen taking her out for a new life, but now they wait, just being a beard on a man. He will walk very slowly but without hesitating, to a new hive Very slowly but without hesitation, open the flap— and they will stumble down his forested arm, passing back the scent of home, and move in. Only an autumn after that will the honey be there, to be taken, spun, compressed into sticks to be given at Christmas, hoarded in pockets, pulled out quickly in snow-swarms and spread over lips.

I have done some archaeology in my poetry archive and before there was Cherry Chapstick there was honey lip balm for the cold you meet when snowboarding.
