So I am home, and generally working my way through the post event drop. I am a bit more prepared for it this time. But it is time to write down the highlights.
## Staying with family
What makes darklands such a big deal for me is the event proper, but the people. I meet so many amazing people and catch up with so many more. This year I was staying all in the same apartment with members of my very close chosen family. I had my Master @hairyhypnotist, my big brother @Giantbritishpuppy and their partner, @SpandexBastard, whom it was my first time meeting in person but boy did we hit it off.
Outside of this we had a lot of of other family members nearby, my slave brother (another slave to Master) @Frank_NL, one of my best friends @OneKinkyGent,
Also so, so many friends from near and far which are too long to list.
This time was precious and special to me and at the end it really hurt to leave everyone. I got to build so many memories.
## Traveling Day
Traveling in was fun. I headed in on Wednesday to give myself a free day. As soon as I got through the Eurostar terminal gate I ran into a lot of London kinksters. We had a lovely time before the gates opened and I met back up with them on the train from belgium to antwerp.
Our eurostar literally got stuck outside the station for 35 minutes as there was an issue with the front carriage. This actually meant that I could be at the station as the rest of my family arrived 20 minutes later!
After getting settled into our apartment I got to cook a meal for us, which means a lot as I feel like cooking food is an act of love for me. it wasn’t fancy or complex but it was nice and filling.
## Thursday
Thursdays are before everything kicks off but when the ball gets rolling. This day was mostly hanging out at the entrance section bar as most of the market and booths were still being constructed.
After breakfast @SpandexBastard and I got our bootblacking kits out and worked on our families leathers. Making sure they were going to look great for when they were out and about. It was such a lovely bonding experience! swapping tips and trix around how we each do gear care. I feel very lucky to have a fellow bootblack in my family now.
The theme of the day for our group was lycra. I don’t get to do lycra enough and it’s a really underrated gear/fetish. but it works well because it’s also insanely comfy as well as being sexy.
We got to meet several people whom I had great conversations with. Some highlights were an Australian pagan pup who also practices druidry, and meeting Cezar in person, after knowing them many years online through my podcast.
## Friday
A Highlight of Friday was to debut my cow-play outfit with my big bro! The Friday and Saturday of Darklands are definitely the ‘Peacocking’ days of the event where everyone puts on their most impressive outfits.
For me this meant showing off my new Cow/Bull outfit. The cow print singlet couldn’t be shipped to the UK, so Big Bro brought it. Cow and Bull play is definitely becoming more common and I was pleased to see several of them about.
Speaking of bulls and bears. I got to hang out with my favorite pack of bull-bears. @lthrbearsolid @MasterAtlas @thenerdcave.bsky.social @rubberbizon.bsky.social I managed to get my head crushed between all their bellies and I was in absolute heaven doing that.
In the morning we attempted to get into the second hand gear sale, however after waiting in line for an hour! We gave up and explored the rest of the market.
In the evening I had arranged for a recording for the @kinkyboyspodcast.com on nullo’s. That had to be pushed back as Master’s group hypnosis session was overrunning. I didn’t mind too much as it was fun to walk in on. And my guests for the podcast didn’t seem to mind either as they joined in for a bit too.
It was an odd feeling quickly making myself a sandwich in the kitchen while a 4 person sex train was happening behind me, but definitely a good kind of odd.
The Podcast recording was fantastic and flowed so smoothly.
Later in the evening was the private hypno party. Master had held the hypnokink social earlier in the recon bar, and this sort of served as a sort of after party.
It had a great atmosphere and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. There were 2 or three trances happening at one time with some fun triggers being put in people. A fun one was @RearDeltRedemption having to mirror anyone doing a mirror flexing pose.
I myself tried doing an induction on a complete cutie and I was so happy to see it worked really well. Turns out all these years going under for other people I had picked up a few of the techniques along the way.
I gave him a simple visualisation journey into being inflated (something he fantasises about a lot) and then given a basic re-induction trigger so he could go back under with people he trusted.
## Saturday
Although none of us drank the night before, there was definitely a hangover from lack of sleep and dehydration. It was a quiet groggy morning as we all re-hydrated and ate a lot over breakfast. Eventually we all felt a lot more human and geared up for the day ahead of us.
As I said earlier, Saturday is one of the two peacocking days. For this day it was what I have come to think of as my ‘Classic’ leather outfit. Green leather cap, green leather shirt, skintight denim jeans, my larping vambraces and my customised Grinders.
The big event for me today was the Bootblacking competition. I managed to get there in time for the questions round and the questions were tough. Fun and whimsical, sure, but very tough to answer on the spot.
Both contestants did great and it was wonderful to see.
I managed to get time to talk to the contestants as well as my friends on the team running the event.
I had several people try and talk me into competing next year. Including Master. I will give it some thought. I won’t lie, competing is tempting but also, not sure being a sash bearer is for me. I tend to do my best community work in the back of the house rather than at the front.
I spent my time going round the market with @Frank_NL, it was nice to get some quality time together.
I found a chunky silicone/rubber harness I fell instantly in love with. You know that feeling where you try on a piece of gear and it just feels so incredibly right? You feel sexy and hot and sexualand powerful because of it? I had that with this harness.
Then I saw the price tag was 400 Euros and quickly put it back on the rack. Barring some very generous sugar daddy or eager paypig getting it for me, my next course of action is to research the materials I would need for it and build my own as a little hobby project.
Alas I was a fool and didn’t book a timeslot with the bootblack stand to get my boots done. In past years I have been able to just do a walk up, however this year they were very much in demand. This is a good thing, as it means bootblacking is really becoming popular, but personally it was a disappointment. For the past few years I have been lucky and the person who worked on my boots went on to win, and I was hoping to see if I could keep this streak going. After Dashing about, seeing people, and going out for dinner at a quiet sit down restaurant I went back to see the announcement of the bootblack competition.
Alas the stage show was 40 min behind schedule. This gave me time to hang out with the rest of the bootblack Europe team as they were finally off duty after a long 2 days. Next year I will make sure to bring a pack of cigarettes with me as many were in bad need of a smoke break.
The contest was great and I got it all on camera.
## Sunday
Sunday was an easier start. It was also a bit of a nervous one.
Today was the day of my Hosted masterclass on bootblacking. Now, I had notes and a framework for what I wanted to teach, but not a detailed lesson plan.
I have found my best presenting work happens when going with the flow and improvising based on the audience vibe. However this is high risk for a brand new class I had never done before.
It went great!
The class was small, but that was ideal as it made it a friendly and intimate experience. It probably wouldn’t have worked if it was a large group.
I was able to do a bit of show and tell passing around my waxes, creams oils and tools to let people have a look and feel of them.
After that it was a quick trip back home to change into my last full outfit.
Now Sunday is a day when most people are tired, hungover or generally lower on energy. This means the outfits are more relaxed and comfortable rather than showing. There are a lot more people who are in just a jockstrap or even fully naked.
I went a similar route and had just a body harness and jockstrap combo, in lovely memory foam cushioned trainers for my feet.
It was the last few hours of cruising, looking round the market for last minute bargains and seeing people.
Master got a brand new set of chap shorts from spitfire leathers that look amazing on him.
Finally it was time to leave. We all prolonged it but time marches ever forward.
From that point on there was a growing sadness in the group. Our time together was running out and we all knew it. We went for a delicious ramen meal and chatted long into the night.
Then we went home and began sorting and packing our bags. For our travels tomorrow.
Yes, there were a few tears too as we went over our favorite moments and said what we would miss about each other as we went back to different parts of the world.
## Traveling home
We got up early, and one by one we left. First My Brothers, who had to get to the airport to fly back. Then 2 hours later it was My turn then lastly Master.
Before we had to leave i was able to have a quiet moment together and very pleasurable shower together.
The journey home was smooth, with catching the train with a lot of other kinksters. I actually was in the same carriage on the eurostar as the group I met through the gate on the journey in. This felt like a nice symmetry to the trip.
The event comedown has been hard but way more manageable than last year. I suspect that it’s because I knew what I would be dealing with this time around.
Coming home to my husband to share my stories and cuddle and catch up was a lovely balm.
This was another amazing trip. And I have a few ideas already brewing for next year…
