Recently a "smiling rock" was found in Northumberland. It's a crinoid fossil, so it's actually partial remains of a stem-like animal from the sea floor. Regardless, it's a rather gnarly looking thing, so I had to illustrate my own take and do a variant in kintsugi and Animal Crossing fossil blue.

And just like that, it's finished! Needs aligned and some bodywork for the rear end damage, but the Kintsugi Del Sol is gonna be roadworthy in the next week or so!!

I am in love with this new brooch. It is made with a lab grown opal which I broke. Because I am a klutz and toss unset stones on concrete floors. So I did what I do - which is seam it with gold leaf. See how the color changes when you move it! 🥰😍

Finishing up my #kintsugi classes today! One chipped sake cup, two chipped bowls, and one lacquered and golden tipped wooden spoon that my kids wanted so I bought it for them then they refused to use when it was just simple dry wood and stuck to their lips.

Destruction is not the end.
It is the beginning of a new history.
In Japan, we don't throw away broken things.
We mend them with gold.
