I remember clubs and bars booking and advertising my band and other female artists (even bands who only had 1 female member!) all on the same bill under “Ladies Night”-type headings regardless of genre & audience base even in the fairly progressive big city of Houston!

Despite the huge strides that Lilith Fair made for female artists in live music, by the post-9/11 era things had regressed pretty significantly.

I remember waiting in line with my parents at the grocery store waiting for the concert ticket desk to open on the first day Lilith Fair tickets were available. I (9yrs old at the time) went with my parents and my then 18yr old uncle Pedro and 2 of his female friends.

I was fortunate to get to attend Lilith Fair every time they came by my area in both Houston (1997, 1998) and Dallas (1999). I also had tickets for the 2010 revival but the Houston date ended up being canceled 💔
