Matthew Rok | PhD Candidate, Cohn & Ivakine Labs Molecular Genetics, University of Toronto, Canada Matthew is a PhD candidate supervised by Dr. Ronald Cohn and Dr. Zhenya Ivakine at the University of Toronto. He investigates the application of CRISPR to correct mutations in the DMD gene which cause Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The direct translation of CRISPR therapeutics is difficult due to sequence differences between mice and humans. His research has thus focused on the development of a mouse with a fully humanized DMD gene to improve the translatability of preclinical in vivo studies. This mouse was successfully generated and subsequently used to produce several dystrophic models with large deletions and duplications as well as small mutations. Talk Title: Development of fully humanized mouse models of Duchenne muscular dystrophy
Join the Myogenesis Discussion Group today for a seminar from Matthew Rok on Humanized Mouse Models for Duchenne muscular dystrophy research! 🧬
