To the left, nestled behind a smaller hedge is a wooden memorial to those villagers who died in both World Wars. Some poppy wreaths and poppy crosses have been left after an Armistice Day service earlier in the month. The sky is a clear blue.
For one of my final #AlphabetChallenge #WeekVforVowels and #NationalTreeWeek photos I offer an English Oak that stands at the end of our road near the village war memorial. I wonder how tall it was in 1914 when those lads left never to return and more in the 1940s?
