Check out this new research on how male stingless bees can contribute to pollination, which I played a small part in. Males must visit flowers to feed, and their increased dispersal compared to workers may benefit dispersal of pollen!

Image of a native Australian bee, the Blue-banded bee. These are solitary bees who don’t produce honey and feed from blue coloured flowers, like the Salvia in this image. With loud beating wings they are buzz pollinators which assist self pollinating plants like tomatoes fruit in season. The bees have 4 or 5 bands on the abdomens which very in shade & intensity. Good little insects.
