No shortcuts to research information citizenship, by Simon Porter at Digital Science
> Over the past decade, the research community has become increasingly comfortable using the language of openness. We talk about open science, open infrastructure, open metadata and open knowledge graphs. But […]
Opinion: Interesting take on dynamic UI, where each user can create their own personalized interface. Would UI/UX engineers be made redundant or adapt their roles to creating skaffolds and templates? Only time will tell.

Longer search strings might still require use of AND instead of proximity because the character limit won't allow the writing out of each combination (compared to operators that allow nested OR within the proximity string).
If #OpenAlex is listening: larger character limits would be really great.

Since I used #OpenAlex to design and export a #systematicreview search last night, I had to double check just now that my search string still gives the same number of results (it should!).... and it does 🎉.
This is exactly what I would expect from a stable system (which OpenAlex is).
I've used #OpenAlex (web) a lot this week, for exploratory searching & scoping, to show a colleague how it works, & even creating & exporting a search for a #SystematicReview.
Interestingly, I was on it yesterday and was surprised to see the interface had changed from what I had used the day before
So excited to build a #SystematicReview search in #OpenAlex (Web app) today. Designed the search strategy & tested it (with seed studies). Export failed on Firefox, but worked on Edge 😌

📊 Open Science in Action: the Université de Lorraine Shifts to #OpenAlex for Bibliometric Reports!

First look into the awards category of #OpenAlex. From a German perspective, it seems pretty useless so far. Only EU projects seem to be connected to German research institutions. And there is only one #DFG project with at least one work connected after 2003 […]

Improving the #OpenAlex document type classification is needed. Meeting abstracts and book reviews are very often grouped under "article", skewing the counts. This new classifier from Nick Haupka is a good contribution toward fixing that problem.
Figure 1 from the preprint: Comparison of Web of Science (Wos), OpenAlex (OA), and OpenCitations (OC) data for the articles present in the three datasets. A. Number of authors, B. Length of the title, C. Number of pages, D. Attributed year, E. Number of references. For each plot, a dashed-line represents y = x.
Figure 5 of the preprint: Biplot of the first and second principal components of a PCA computed on the means of the five bibliometric variables for each journal in the sample. The arrows represent the correlation between each original variable and the principal components. The direction and length of the arrows indicate how strongly each variable contributes to each component.
Figure 6 of the preprint: Variation in bibliometric indicators of hardness for 25 archaeological journals based on OpenAlex data. The journals are ordered for each indicator so that within each plot, the harder journals are at the top of the plot and the softer journals are at the base. Panel F shows a bar plot that is the single consensus ranking computed from all five variables, using the Borda Count ranking algorithm.
