Transparent peer review to be extended to all of Nature’s research papers From today, all new submissions to Nature that are published will be accompanied by referees’ reports and author responses — to illuminate the process of producing rigorous science.

Question for #metascience2025: Is there data that shows #OpenPeerReview is quantifiably "better," "faster" and/or pulls in new reviewers to alleviate the strain on the system? @prereview.bsky.social @andre-brasil.bsky.social? Can we show skeptics data that it helps w/ this crisis?

@cos.io also doesn't have a scalable model with #LifeCycleJournal yet. This is a pilot/experiment and it's not clear how to make it sustainable in the long term. #OpenPeerReview like many #openscience practices is EXPENSIVE and this community can't really address this.

@hhmi.org TAP team is spending a LOT of resources to support trainees, specifically checking peer reviews, providing feedback, and encouraging cohort members to support each other. #openpeerreview includes a rubric for report assessment. This is a luxury - how do we make it scale?
