wow, bad night, all #FreeBSD vms on #Proxmox 9 was frozen without depending on which of the 3 nodes they are. not funny. All linux vms still runs on all nodes.
Bad because both #pfsense are Freebsd. So HA failed.

After running into issues getting my Protectli FW4B firewall appliance updated to #pfSense 2.7.2, I decided to switch to #OPNsense. It just works. I even got adblocking working in Unbound without much fuss.
In #pfSense it's notoriously tricky to do reflective / hairpin turn #NAT. Typical workarounds involve proxies or split DNS. Today I stumbled across another technique that seems to work on latest pfSense:
Create a duplicate NAT entry but set the interface to LAN instead of WAN. Seems to work.
