Last bit on the #activeRagdoll for a bit. Got the main pattern for jolt movement. If a foot needs to shuffle or reposition when under pressure, it can hop the gap.
Just need it to automate the values for different distances.

Predictably I have a sticky feet problem, drag is effecting escape velocity, so jumps have become all or nothing.
Plus side, this should be a simple fix, and at least the jumps are consistent.

Each leg and the main body have raycasts.
You can get the avg normal orientation from the ray.get_collision_normal() and use it for detecting sloped and so on

Started a new challenge in my free time, a kind of devlog journey around this spider mech character.
First step, walking procedurally! It can adapt its steps, and with custom gravity, it now sticks to surfaces and walks across any angle, even rocky, uneven ones.
