Police investigate after white-tailed eagles go missing across UK Conservationists appeal to public for help after rare birds disappear in suspicious circumstances

It’s tragic after all the reintroduction efforts that this keeps happening.

One of the missing chicks was born in the wild earlier this year in West Sussex, was one of the first white-tailed eagles to fledge in England for hundreds of years.

One of the missing is a chick born in West Sussex. In September its tag was found in the River Rother, it had been cut off. The chick has not been found.

"Oh dear, what a pity, never mind" was my initial reaction to this. However, my concern is that it forces gamekeepers to double down on predator control and #raptorpersecution.

It’s the #inglorious12th when toffs and City bankers start the grouse shooting season, dressing up in tweed and paying up to £5000 per day for the privilege. Moorland heather will have been burnt, many animals, raptors and corvids killed, all to boost grouse numbers. #raptorpersecution
