A number of people said the same the thing to me, "not as active." I do remember bsky during #SC24 and it was very, very active.
The correlation with hpc_guru retiring is interesting. I did not small any mangos but there was a picture of @fclc.bsky.social eating them...
As a remote, bluesky #sc25 wasn’t anywhere near as active as #sc24. Lack of @hpcguru.bsky.social 1:1 correlation.
The days of air cooled GPGPUs are over. Maybe that was the case at #SC24 however, seeing the amount of "HPC Plumbing" vendors at #SC25 made me come to this realization now.
#SC25 #HPC I've seen some random complaints about #SC25 being quiet and small.
Last year, #SC24, was around 18,000. The last number I saw for #SC25 is 15,900. That's only 11% down.
#SC24 had about 500 exhibitors. #SC25 had 560 exhibitors.
I would not call that quite/small.

One of the talks at #SC24 went over supporting #AI and research, and the takeaway I got was that to improve the speed of AI training was to just throw more hardware at it. Nobody talked about code optimization. I had this feeling that there was room, but nobody had an answer to the problem.
I saw this in the #SC24 visualization room! It's mesmerizing. I could have watched it for hours 🙂
