Nancy Baym - you read the intro to her book “Playing to the Crowd” Larisa Mann - you read an article of hers this week Msia Kibona Clark - great work on African hip-hop Elinor Carmi - you read an article of hers this week Robin James - any of her books Victoria Simon - any of her articles about music production interfaces Trevor Pinch - great combo of sound studies/STS Tricia Rose - “Black Noise” is a foundational book Jacques Attali - “Noise” is a bible in the field Allie Martin - great work on Black sound studies in DC Mark Katz - “Capturing Sound” and other books Gary Tomlinson - especially “1 million years of music” Steve Waksman - great work on rock music and beyond (and, of course, you might be interested in my own sound studies work, including my book “Mashed Up”) Enjoy!
