President Trump specifically said he destroyed the military targets, but not the oil infrastructure on the island. Looks to me like he’s trying to seize control of their oil. There is zero chance that Iran will sit passively by and allow that to happen. This has very bad vibes to me, like we are sending a lot of people to die in a mission that likely gets that island torched. I see no possibility that Iran will allow a facility that process is 90% of their oil exports to fall into our hands without destroying the whole thing. Trump may have bombed Kharg island in preparation of a US Marine amphibious invasion with 2,500 troops in order to seize its oil resources. The problem is that Iran can sink the USS Tripoli and its escort ships once it goes through the Strait of Hormuz and even if we capture the island they can bombard our Marines and exact heavy casualties because it's only 16 miles from the Iranian mainland.
