The question When can a child start receiving support? is posed as part of Enquire's FAQ Friday series. This week the colour scheme is light blue.
The first answer card of three highlights a child may be identified as having additional support needs at any stage of their education, from the early years to any point during their schooling.
The second answer card of three outlines that the right to support for learning starts once a child is eligible for their funded hours of early learning and childcare. This is usually from the age of three, but may be from age two for some children. It also highlights that if a child needs support earlier because they are disabled, the local authority should assess this to identify what support is best suited.
The final answer card in this series is a reminder that once a child is at school, they should receive support for learning until the leave - no matter what age this is.
The right to support for learning is applicable as soon as your child is eligible for their funded hours of early learning and childcare, and follows them throughout their schooling.
This week's #FAQFriday, explains more.

The question 'Does my child need a diagnosis to get support' is posed as part of the Enquire FAQ Fridays series.
Answer, Part 1: In Scotland, children have the right to support whether they have a diagnosis or not. This includes if they are on a waiting list for assessment or for reasons that are not medical.
Answer, Part 2: Many children may need support for reasons that do not come with a diagnosis, for example if they are being bullied, caring for someone at home or if they have been bereaved.
Answer, Part 3: A formal diagnosis can be helpful for the schools to understand a child's needs and plan support. However, a child has the right to receive help at school when it is realised they need it.
This week's #FAQFriday focuses on whether children need a #diagnosis in order to receive #supportforlearning.
Spoiler alert: They don't!
