A lovely encounter along the roadside with a Common Columbine in full bloom. I didn't really want to bring my camera, but I was glad I did anyway, and took this close-up in black and white. From the inside out, the flower consists of two undulating circles of petals with a flower stalk in the middle. The outer petals are blurred in the background because the focus is on the inner part.
Sometimes you just walk out into the sunny evening and are ultimately glad that you had your camera with you... for this flower.
