The #USOC @opencup.ussoccer.com is far more important to the overall health of the game in this country than hosting a bunch on international all-star teams for a month once every 30 years.

A format change for the #USOC in 2026 is reportedly coming based on a mandate from US Soccer. 48 total pro clubs will participate broken down as follows:
16 MLS clubs
17 USL Championship clubs
13 USL League One teams
2 Independent MLS Next Pro clubs.
