🧫 We found clear shifts in the #microbiome downstream the #WWTP — especially in trout and river water.
But the fish resistomes? Surprisingly stable.
Despite elevated #AMR gene levels in river water downstream, fish didn’t mirror these changes in their own microbiota.

📍We sampled Brown trout (water-column dwellers) & European bullhead (sediment-associated) upstream and downstream of a rural #WWTP in Saxony, Germany.
We compared microbiomes and resistomes (#AMR gene profiles) in their gills, skin, and feces with the river #microbiome.
