I’ve been writing more short story & flash fiction this past year. In my fanfic writing days I often entered the Granger/Snape 100 (word) Drabble challenges on LiveJournal.
One Drabble I wrote involved their daughter swapping lube with glitter glue.

Writing advice: just do it. Like any skill, the more you practice, the better you get. Don’t worry about people reading it, just enjoy the writing. You can go back an edit something less than perfect, but you can’t edit a blank page. And if in doubt, read, read and read some more.
