Before and after glazing of this patchwork vase. The idea being: you turn the vase around depending on the flowers you add so the vase compliments the green leaves, the white or red flowers :)

Because glazes don't look the way they will be once fired, I decide which glazes goes where on the piece, then I take pictures of it as each square needs 3 layers and obviously, after the first layer, the writing is no longer visible. The pictures help me to keep on the right track.
I apply the glazes one by one - each layer 3 times for full opaque coverage. I chose glazes which are fairly stable and won't run all over the piece once they melt in the heat of the kiln.
As you can see... this is all the glazes applied and drying, ready to go into the kiln for a glaze firing.
(This little one got broken when another piece fell on top during the kiln loading. It will stay with me as I fell in love with it.) The colours look washed out on the left of the pictures as the sun peaked through the clouds but you get the idea.
Sometimes we all need a little warmth - a hug, a kind word, a small reminder that we’re cared for.
I made these small vases, gently wrapped in their clay shawls, offering a touch of comfort and a whisper of “you’re not alone.”

Remember the set I made with the copper river down the middle?
These were 5 more pieces but the glaze crazed off every single one of them. Mistake: dipping glaze over dipping glaze rather than my usual brush-on. Lesson learned.

2 test bowls and 2 test hearts - trying out new glazes. In between are some pieces to be turned into magnets.
4 Latte cups, 3 sippy mugs and a heart shaped trinket dish.
Starting temperature is 11 degrees Celcius... ways to go to reach 1220.

I don't like firing overnight so I start my kiln at 3am for it to be cooling down when I go to bed.

Small bowl to hold keys, rings, coins, anything... glazed with Mayco Winterwood and Tourmaline over the top.
Refired with something else over the top. No idea what it was.
When you don't like how a piece comes out of the kiln and you randomly throw another glaze on top, refire, et voila! A beautiful result which I will not be able to replicate (forgot which glaze! doh)
